Lausanne is a really interesting city. Like most European cities there is the "old city" or historic center and the new city surrounding it. Lausanne also sits on the coast of lake geneva which adds a whole different district to the city. Switzerland is by far the cleanest country I have been to. Its pretty disappointing coming back to the filth that fills the Italian streets and the smelly people on the buses and trains. Swiss people are much more conscious of that sort of thing.
Crossing into the old city from the new.
Cathedral
Legendary Rose window. Its famous because Lausanne was one point on the pilgrimage between Paris and Rome and pilgrims could see the window from far away to make sure they were going the right direction.
Chateaux that is now offices. Lame.
The Ouchy District is the waterfront. They have this lake/river for kids to play in.
Lausanne is also home to the Olympics headquarters. The museum was surprisingly fantastic. They had a Metal from every olympics, the original torches, history of the restart of modern olympics and information on every city that hosted. Also lots of gear and uniforms worn by famous athletes.
